Meghan Markle may not fit everyone’s perceived ideals of a Duchess, especially when it comes to Britain. However, one thing that cannot be taken away from her is that she was the force that completely altered royal fashion for women. Not only did she break away from several rules dictating how a royal woman should dress, but gave tough competition to Kate Middleton, who had long been reserving all the praises for her elegant fashion. 

While the two have always been pitted against each other in terms of style by tabloids, a popular fashion designer has recently expressed his clear preference for Kate Middleton. 

Top British fashion designer, Julien Macdonald, who is known for designing for celebrities like Kylie Minogue, Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham, and Naomi Campbell, has seemingly snubbed Meghan Markle publicly in a conversation with Richard Eden of Daily Mail. While raving about his close bonds with the Duchess of Cornwall, Queen Camilla, Macdonald expressed her interest in dressing Kate Middleton as well. However, upon asking about Meghan Markle, the designer straight up stated, “No, I prefer Kate and Camilla”. 

Further making his preference for Middleton evident, Macdonald went on to say, “Kate’s amazing”. He added, “I'd love to dress her in one of my dresses”. The trail of snubs has been quite strong for Prince Harry as well, ever since the new year started. Be it the alleged snub from his childhood friend’s wedding or a snub from the royal family at his Invictus anniversary celebration in the UK. And as for Meghan Markle, this was not her first snub of 2024 either.

However, Meghan Markle’s absence from the bash raised a lot of questions about their friendship. With all the snubs coming in, it is yet to be seen if Meghan Markle and Prince Harry can truly make 2024 their redemption year.
