The perception of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in the public eye is a matter of contention, with some in their corner and others holding contrasting opinions. From the day they became a couple, controversies emerged like thorns on the rose-covered path of their relationship. This contrast in public perception became even more striking after the Sussexes gracefully glided down the royal palace’s staircase. There is a popular belief that the couple is mostly seen in a bad light by the British. 

A recent report, however, showcased that the Sussexes do not have a strong fan base in the States either. In fact, the British Prince appears to enjoy greater popularity in the US than his American wife. 

Prince Harry’s popularity growth outshone that of Meghan Markle

GB News recently reported a poll by YouGov that put the Duchess of Sussex for an approval poll. As per the ratings, her popularity has fallen from 17 percent to 10 percent in recent days. While 32% of Americans were in support of the former actress, 22% were not very fond of her. On the other hand, Prince Harry’s popularity ratings remained constant in the poll in both quarters. 

Prince Harry maintained an approval rating of 24% in both the second and third-quarter surveys. Though the percentage is less than Markle’s, there has not been a massive dip in Prince Harry’s likability among Americans like his wife. This is not the only time Prince Harry outshone his wife in terms of approval in America. After the satirical cartoon, South Park allegedly mocked the Sussexes, their popularity took a nosedive in the US, as per Daily Mail. 

Recently, another popular Animated satire mocked the Sussexes on their show, which could further affect their popularity in the States.

A few months back, South Park aired an episode titled The Worldwide Privacy Tour where they allegedly mocked the Sussexes and their demand for privacy. The parody did not sit well with the Suits alum and reports of the Sussexes suing the makers started to circulate. Reports also suggested that the Duchess spent days feeling “upset and overwhelmed” about the parody. Months after the event, another popular animated program, Family Guy took an alleged jab at the Sussexes.

Family Guy aired an episode on Sunday where they mocked the Sussexes’ sources of income. From joking about their hefty income from the OTT giant, Netflix, to pointing at their social media sponsorships, the viral clip from the show caused a lot of buzz among fans. Though the Sussexes have not yet reacted to the parody, only time will tell if this will further cause a decline in their popularity among Americans.
