Meghan Markle has a strong inner circle to lean on when things get tough. And she has long emphasized the value of female friendships in her life, from her school days right through her acting career and beyond. Although her social dynamics changed drastically upon entering royal life, she managed to hold on to some of her friends from her time in the entertainment industry. However, one of whom she considered a dear friend has given her the cold shoulder.

The Duchess' friend denied having spent enough time with the former actress, seemingly contradicting the close connection Meghan Markle had once painted between them. 

In November 2020, Meghan Markle hosted Sophie Trudeau, the former First First Lady of Canada, on her Archetypes podcast. During the conversation, Markle opened up about having been going to Trudeau "over the years for advice,” and even confiding in her during pregnancy. However, Trudeau's response in a recent interview with The Times about her relationship with Markle was rather subdued. When asked about the friendship, Trudeau downplayed it saying, “I know her... but we haven't spent much time together". 

The former Canadian television host then redirected the conversation to Meghan Markle's sister-in-law, Kate Middleton. She shared how her heart sank upon hearing about Middleton's cancer diagnosis last month. According to Finding Freedom, both Markle and Trudeau formed a close bond when the now 42-year-old was in Canada filming Suits, and have remained connected since. However, some recent circumstances might have put a strain on their friendship.

Meghan Markle recently had a major falling out with a mutual friend she shared with Sophie Trudeau and has also become something of a controversial figure among Canadians.

However, rumors suggest that the Duchess had a falling out with her former best friend, Jessica Mulroney, who also worked as a stylist for Trudeau. Last year, Markle faced heavy criticism for allegedly mocking a local professional singer on the autism spectrum during their rendition of the Canadian national anthem at an NHL game.
