It all started when Prince Harry visited the King upon hearing about his failing health. The speculation further heightened when the Prince hinted that he might not rush to get American citizenship. While royal fans are optimistic about these rumors and what insiders are saying, it seems like the potential return of the Sussexes to the family is becoming more of a necessity than just a desire.

The royals have been going through a rough patch lately. While King Charles and Kate Middleton were dealing with health issues, a photoshopped image exacerbated doubts about the family’s integrity. Recently, Michelle Ruiz from Vogue shared why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, had they remained part of the royal circle, could have positively impacted the situation. Ruiz argued that retaining the Sussexes was crucial not just due to their celebrity status, but also because of their ability to connect with Commonwealth nations.

Ruiz took issue with King Charles’ strategy of slimming down the royal family, describing it as “wasting away to nothing“. While acknowledging that there are, indeed, other members of the royal family, Ruiz believed that none have the same allure and fascination as Princess Diana’s sons. Therefore, in this situation, it is crucial for the royals to bring back all of their assets under one roof. But the question is: will the Sussexes return to the family?

In an interview with Fox News, author Charles Anderson termed the entire situation between the Sussexes and the royal family as a “royal game of chicken“. He highlighted that there is no certainty over who will crack first between the two parties and extend a hand of reconciliation. These observations came after Grant, who served under King Charles for seven years, acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s potential return as full-time royals, but stated that “it is possible“.

Anderson dismissed any hopes for a royal reunion, saying “dream on” to those still holding out. According to the royal author, Prince Harry is “extremely content” in California and is unlikely to entertain thoughts of returning to the UK permanently. He also pointed out that the royals are not beating down his door to invite him back either. Even if Prince Harry wanted to help out while his father is dealing with cancer and Kate Middleton is out of action, Prince William would never allow it. Hence, a reunion is still a long shot.
