Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have consistently stood up for children's safety and rights. Be it taking the initiative to address online threats, donating funds and hats, advocating greater global vaccine access, or raising the alarm about the social injustices children endure in the most out-of-the-way places, they have never been ones to sit on their hands. On their recent trip to Nigeria, one of their favorite spots on the map, the Californian couple made sure to end their journey by doing something meaningful for children.

Save the Children U.K. recently revealed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had a surprise meeting with the charity's staff in Abuja during their Nigerian trip. In a video clip circulated on the charity's Instagram today, the Sussexes were seen exchanging handshakes with Save the Children's team. They graciously posed for photographs with the staff, activist Missan Harriman, as well as with Youth Ambassadors Maryam and Purity, during the session, where they absorbed further insights into the charity’s initiatives.
The charity workers filled in the Sussexes on their work, addressing issues like child marriage, educational and healthcare accessibility, and the struggles of internally displaced children. However, this was not the first interaction between the couple and this charity. In 2022, the Archewell Foundation extended financial aid to them amid floods in Nigeria. Just moments before the recent video from the African charity surfaced, another member of the Royal family also took to social media to address matters pertaining to Africa as well.
Prince William advocated concerns, revolving around African wildlife, especially African elephants, which he fears might be lost from the wild by the time Princess Charlotte turns 25.

Prince William recently extended warm congratulations to the Elephant Protection Initiative as it celebrated its 10th anniversary. Praising the initiative for its outstanding achievements over the past decade and for playing a huge role in conservation efforts across Africa, he also touched upon the issue of poaching, which he admitted still exists. However, he was hopeful for the progress that has been made and assured that they are now "in a better place than a decade ago”.
Prince William has always been vocal about his concerns regarding the "vicious" illegal wildlife trade, as he mentioned in a speech during his 2015 China Tour. He warned that the world appeared to be speeding towards a future where elephants could disappear from the wild, labeling it as "an immeasurable loss to humanity". Nonetheless, although the estranged brothers may not see eye to eye on various matters, they seem to be equally passionate about issues concerning Africa.
