Everybody knows that Christmas is the one time when families reunite. However, since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ventured beyond the confines of the royal fold, their connections with the crown have only steadily deteriorated. Post their departure, both sides of the family were reluctant to forgive each other, casting a shadow over any prospects of reconciliation. Although Prince Harry briefly returned for his father’s coronation in May, they have mostly maintained their distance from each other ever since.

It seems like the animosity will bleed into another holiday season, with the Sussexes keeping away from their English clan.

With Christmas Eve just around the corner, Markle and Prince Harry have made no moves to head to the latter’s home country so far. According to royal specialist, Ingrid Seward, who spoke to Hello magazine, King Charles may be “a bit relieved” to not have to face his estranged son during this merry time. To her, it was evident that it would be “unpleasant” if these two parties converged now

Especially since the current monarch has had quite a hectic year, Seward believed that having to “walk on eggshells” around the Sussexes is not the best way to end 2023 for him. Moreover, she felt that this would only lead to “aggravation” in the family. So, maybe it is best that the two clans remain continents apart, according to her, as the rebellious royals remain in the USA with their children.

It seems like King Charles has been trying to avoid his son, anyway. At least that is what Omid Scobie revealed recently.

In a tell-all novel, Endgame, that came out in August this year, Omid Scobie revealed various insider secrets about the royal family. In particular, he dove into the breakdown of communication between the Sussexes and their royal counterparts. One incident that shocked readers most was when the king reportedly refused to meet his son at the time the Duke was attending his grandmother’s funeral last year.

According to the royal journalist, the residing monarch used being overworked as an excuse to avoid confronting the prince. Another thing that Scobie’s book shed light on was the ongoing tug-of-war between their two sides over the Sussexes’ two children’s titles. Considering how much is yet to be smoothed over, Ingrid Seward’s comments regarding the disturbed relations between them may just be true.
