Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Stateside Neighbors’ Perspective Mirrors Their Declining Popularity in the US
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry packed their royal bags and moved across the pond four years ago, chasing the American dream. But instead of smooth sailing, their new chapter has been more like a whirlwind, with calm being as rare as a unicorn. Back in the UK, their popularity has been hanging by a thread since they ditched their royal duties. And as for life in the US? It has not exactly been the warmest welcome either, with every new update giving a reason for their Stateside popularity to take a nosedive.
While the couple has done their best to keep drama outside the front door, reports suggest their neighbors would prefer they stay on the other side of the door too.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s supporters are well aware of the royal shade coming from across the Atlantic, but it now looks like even their American neighbors are joining the chorus of critics. According to a report from The News from December last year, one anonymous neighbor did not hold back, saying they "cannot wait" for Markle to pack her bags. On the flip side, Frank McGinty, a Navy veteran, was a bit more polite but still had some beans to spill.
McGinity mentioned being turned away at their gate after offering some local history films to help them settle into the Riven Rock Estate, where most of the residents are in the older age bracket. He revealed to the Montecito Journal that the Sussexes are rarely seen in the area. To add to the neighborly shade, Richard Mineards chimed in earlier this month, telling The Telegraph that neighbors are getting a little salty over how rarely the royal couple are seen.
Neighbors have even pointed out the over-the-top security detail, especially for Prince Harry, even for the most routine errands.

According to Richard Mineards' chat with The Telegraph, whenever Prince Harry has been spotted in the neighborhood, he has got his security entourage in tow—even if he is just biking, walking on the beach, or grabbing a quick bite. Meghan Markle, on the other hand, is more of a mystery. She is harder to catch, but when she does make an appearance, it is usually for lunch with friends or a trip to the market.
Meanwhile, in another interview with The Mirror in January, local Barry Maher did not mince words. He shared that the Sussexes’ neighbors are getting fed up with what he calls their "traveling soap opera." He also pointed out that the couple lives in a much fancier area than most, yet they are practically invisible. But, while the reports raise eyebrows, the Sussexes are no strangers to riding out the storm and consequently, this is not likely to faze a duo who have been navigating conflict for years.
