Was it the infamous bridesmaid dress fight between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton? Was it Prince William’s rejection of the Invictus Games? Or was it a clash between increasing popularity and rising ranks? According to Princess Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell, it is actually a combination of both.

Following their exit from the royal family and Britain, Markle and Prince Harry have not looked back. The two have only faced the cameras willingly to expose the otherwise private affairs of the royal family, which has caused great harm to their reputations. And as per Paul Burrell’s statement to The Mirror, all could have been forgiven by Prince William had the couple not dragged Kate Middleton’s reputation through the mud.

Burrell is of the belief that the princes could have solved all the other matters owing to them being brothers. They could have either fought it out or hugged it out. But Prince William threw out any chances of reconciliation as soon as Kate Middleton got involved. In fact, the mud-slinging on Kate Middleton’s good name was the “last straw” for Prince William. It is ironic how both their last straw boiled down to their wives.

While it is undeniable that the bond between Prince Harry and Prince William can never truly perish, with a future Queen standing at the heart of the divide, can it ever be mended?

And this could not be any truer in the case of the rivalry between the royal siblings. But not many took notice of how Kate Middleton may be the wall standing between the two. After all, she is said to be the alleged mastermind behind the “some recollections may vary,” clapback.

As Kate Middleton is now brought to the crux of the royal siblings’ rivalry, the chances of reunion get even slimmer because if there is one thing to know about Kate Middleton is that she lives to bring honor to the royal family. And given how she held tightly to the stiff upper lip policy while there was an outcry of people calling her a bully, it is unlikely she will take the first step to initiate a reunion.
