After leaving the royal frontiers with intentions of never looking back, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have confronted countless situations that prompted them to pause and reflect. Having been a favorite of royal experts’ everlasting field days, controversies have been the next worst thing to tag with the Sussexes other than the eagle-eyes. However, reputation is not the only thing that has been at stake with their infamous relocation to the States, since, with the royal umbrella snatched from over their heads, inheritance has also been stripped off.

There is no officially recognized figure for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s combined net worth in 2024 since their decision to become financially independent from the royal family in 2020. However, Celebrity Net Worth reported their combined worth to be a whopping $60 million in 2023, which looks like a significant boost from Forbes’ 2021 report of the couple’s fiscal standing at $10 million.
Although the Duchess and the Duke of Sussex no longer have access to the Royal Family’s $28 billion estate, they have managed to add to their pockets through ways including the five-year Netflix deal, interviews and documentaries, Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir, Spare, and of course, the inheritance the Duke got from his late mother, Princess Diana’s estate after her death. The Prince also received about $10.5 million from a trust fund made by his great-grandmother upon turning 40 this year.
Although their net worth may appear pale compared to other royals, including the Prince’s own brother, it has not stopped the couple from indulging in what counts, like buying a vacation home.

According to a recent report from Daily Mail, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle purchased a vacation home in Portugal, marking a return to Europe after emptying their royal residence, Frogmore Cottage. The couple allegedly splurged $4.7 million on one of the 300 residential developments at the 722-acre Costa Terra Golf and Ocean Club, dubbed the “Hamptons of Portugal.”
The Portuguese home comes with the Golden Visa perk, granting the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex the license to travel without a visa throughout the European Union’s Schengen area, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. Although their move was not exactly met with a red-carpet rollout from the locals, the luxury purchase adds glitter to the extravagant assets they call home.
