If royal fans thought Meghan Markle and Prince Harry only faced heat from the palace, Hollywood is here to say, hold my latte. After being the headline of every royal drama, and then the not-so-royal drama that still feels like a royal rerun, the Sussex duo is now getting hit with claims that their star power is dimming Stateside. The whispers gained momentum when Prince Harry supposedly hit pause with his US consultants, and now after their chief of staff called quits, the Hollywood think pieces have noted a pattern.
Sure, the Sussexes are no strangers to gossip, but the Hollywood brand of scrutiny? Well, that is a whole new kind of spotlight.

The Hollywood Reporter just mapped out a new trend where American advisors practically keep sprinting away from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Case in point: Josh Kettler, their Santa Barbara-based Chief of Staff, reportedly called it quits in August after just three months on the job. He is the latest to join the "Sussex Survivors Club" as the ex-Sussex employees like to call it.

A source close to the couple spilled some royal beans, claiming "everyone’s terrified of Meghan" because she "belittles people" and does not play nice with advice. While the Prince is apparently "charming," he is also an "enabler," according to the same source. This Hollywood analysis did not stem from the latest Sussex staff shuffle because it has a history of its own with Toya Holness, their global press secretary who left in 2022, or Christine Weil Schirmer, the former Pinterest communications director who stepped down as their PR head in 2021.
Prince Harry’s recent turning towards his old British crew was like waving a big red flag that US consultants might not be his cup of tea anymore. As the resignations pile up like sequels in a Hollywood franchise, the Sussex couple is also collecting a few choice nicknames along the way.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s latest scoop, Meghan Markle has earned the nickname "Duchess Difficult" from her staff due to her alleged temper tantrums. The report digs into an exodus of Sussex staff and even references a 2018 investigation by Buckingham Palace into Markle’s behavior towards royal aides.

Though those reports never saw the light of day, some of their US staff have spilled the beans about her "noisy tantrums" and "angry 5 am emails," which have only added fuel to the fire. This unsparing portrayal of the Sussexes is causing quite a stir, and while it is tough to predict what is next, it definitely does not look like it will be a walk in the park.
