Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Face Another UK Snub, and It’s Not the Royals This Time
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been bouncing back and forth between the UK and the USA for the past few years. Unfortunately, they seem to be losing their foothold in both countries. While the UK has turned its back on the Sussexes ever since they gave up their royal titles and aired their grievances with the royal family, over the years, even their American audience has started to distance itself from the Californian couple. To make matters worse, the Duke and Duchess have been dealt yet another blow.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were recently snubbed again in the UK, and this time, the royals had nothing to do with it.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were supposed to be featured at the National Portrait Gallery in London. Their portrait, taken by their go-to photographer and close friend Misan Harriman, was added to the gallery’s photo collection in May 2024. Although it is still available online, a spokesperson confirmed that it will not be making it to the gallery walls anytime soon (via Marca). The black-and-white portrait in question featured the couple standing side by side at the One Young World Summit in Manchester two years ago.
This decision to keep the portrait out of public view has raised a few questions, especially since Kate Middleton has been a benefactor of the gallery since 2012. However, the Princess of Wales has no control over what images are featured in the collection. While this may be the first time Prince Harry has been snubbed this month, Meghan Markle should be quite used to it by now.
Earlier this month, Buckingham Palace was accused of cropping Meghan Markle out of Prince Harry’s birthday photo.

As Prince Harry celebrated his 40th birthday earlier this month, the royal family took to social media to send their well-wishes. They chose a 2018 photo of him smiling from ear to ear during a visit to Dogpatch Labs in Dublin for the occasion. The official X account for Prince William and Kate Middleton shared the same photo, adding, “Wishing a Happy 40th Birthday to The Duke of Sussex!”
This was quite a moment, as it was the first time the royal family had publicly acknowledged Prince Harry's birthday since September 2021. However, the original version of this image included Meghan Markle, smiling alongside her husband as they sat with others at a table. This led to rumors that Buckingham Palace might have intentionally left her out of the post. However, a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace told the Independent that the image had not been altered and was posted just as it was received.
