Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have made several headlines because of their solo appearances. Following their latest joint video appearance a while ago, The Express cited PR expert Renae Smith’s reflection on this effort and whether the brand succeeded in reaching its full potential. According to Smith, although their "differing interests" confused the public, their latest approach may favor the Sussexes.
Smith believes their decision to “pursue individual brands” could be beneficial in the long term, but in the short term, it is bound to invite more public speculation. From her PR perspective, this shift allows them to give a platform to their individual priorities, and in turn, become more relevant to cater to their objective audience. The PR expert even contrasted their lack of unity with their comparatively opposing interests that failed to combine under one umbrella despite the Duke and the Duchess’ relentless trials.

However, reflecting on the lack of impact Markle and the Prince made with their individual stances, Smith assures the new strategy should prompt a “natural evolution” for their brand’s reception, and consequently, lessen the intensity of backlash.
