This year’s Golden Globe Awards was brimming with cold shoulder moments, be it for good reasons or just mere speculations. The host of this season’s award ceremony, Jo Koy, had been engaging in relentless roast sessions which garnered face-palm reactions from most of the stars. While the classic Taylor Swift poker face expression has lived rent-free in most people’s minds since the day itself, the songstress was also bashed by many for not being a good sport about it.

Amidst the recent developments, a fellow American singer, Reneé Rapp, has come forward in support of the alleged not-so-sporty behavior as the songstress took a jibe at Jo Koy for his untasteful comments.

The 81st Golden Globes was anything but a quiet night. From the unpleasing comments about Greta Gerwig’s Barbie to the cold NFL joke, Jo Koy went all out with his jestful tactics. While most were caught up in a ruckus of uneasy expressions, celebrities gave their two cents about the jabs even after the event, including Reneé Rapp as shared by Pop Base on X (formerly Twitter). Rapp said during a game of ins and outs, “…also my out is the man that was making a bunch of jokes about like women last night at the Golden Globes.”.

While she also spoke about another “out” regarding a man “yelling” at her at 8 AM, her sliding onto the Jo Koy topic surely grabbed the most attention. There is no doubt about the fact that the jokes did not sit well with the stars of the night and even forced out some painful grins. And now that the cat is still out of the box two days later, it seems like it might take some time for the incident to die down. 

While Jo Koy received the slam from Rapp, Taylor Swift’s reaction to his jokes also became prey to criticism.

Megyn Kelly’s take on Taylor Swift’s response to Jo Koy

The infamous NFL joke that received Swift’s steely gaze became a viral clip circulating on every social radar. While she was not alone in showering in indifferent responses and awkward grins, her reaction fell prey to several criticisms, including SiriusXM’s Megyn Kelly. The host of The Megyn Kelly Show expressed that Taylor Swift might have made the “wrong move” with the scornful response.

According to her, since the jest was merely a “gentle sweep”, Swift could have been a “good sport” to avoid the controversies. Furthermore, The View host, Sara Haines, also backed up Jo Koy in this regard. Much like Kelly, she also felt that the singer could have just ‘laughed’ it out. Since at the moment, both the maker and the receiver are in the spotlight for not-so-good reasons, it can be said that they are now in the same boat- the one with backlash.
