MCU’s ‘Spider-Man 4’ Leans Into the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Formula With This Major Upgrade
Before the MCU and the now-defunct DCEU, and long before comic-book movies took over the pop-culture world, there was 20th Century Fox and its very own X-Men franchise. Recently, Deadpool and Wolverine teamed up for a cinematic adventure that smashed two of the most beloved X-Men into one MCU movie. But the main character of the film was the entertaining dynamic between the gruffer-than-usual Wolverine and the comically crass mercenary. Now, it looks like the MCU wants to replicate the same magic with its next big project.
Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man 4 could be following in the footsteps of the billion-dollar summer blockbuster with a major addition.

Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus recently dropped some rumors about how Marvel Studios and Sony plan to tackle Spider-Man 4. According to his sources, Marvel and Sony are looking to make this film a team-up extravaganza, much like how Deadpool & Wolverine did. The goal is to recapture that same spark and dynamic, but swap out Deadpool and Fox for Spider-Man and Sony. Perez also shared that the studios are aiming to bring back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield for a bigger role than they had in No Way Home earlier.
Of all the potential team-ups that can be imagined for the upcoming movie, Tom Hardy’s Venom seems to be the most likely candidate over Charlie Cox’s Daredevil or any other hero. So, if Venom and Spider-Man are sharing the screen, it is probably a pretty good hint that Knull might be the big antagonist in the project as well. Before all this news came out, Perez teased another juicy rumor.
One of Perez’s reports hinted that Marvel Studios and Sony were butting heads over Spider-Man 4's story.
MCU and Sony’s vision for Spider-Man 4
Back in September, Alex Perez revealed that Marvel wanted to take Spider-Man down a more street-level route for the next film. The plan was to have Spider-Man team up with Daredevil to take on Wilson Fisk, picking up right after the events of Daredevil: Born Again. Perez also mentioned that a whole bunch of Spider-Man villains were being considered for the plot too.

This included villains like the Maggia, Mister Negative, and Spencer Smythe, along with some revamped old-timers like MacDonald Gargan as Scorpion and even Aaron Davis as Prowler. According to Perez, "Marvel still intends to tell this story… but we may have to wait a bit longer.” However, since neither Marvel Studios nor Disney have confirmed this rumor, or the new one, it should all be taken with a grain of salt.
