Arnold Schwarzenegger has been one of Hollywood’s favorite action superstars for decades now. But even though he is built like a truck, the star has always preferred peace over violence. In fact, some of his best films are his most violent ones like The Terminator franchise or even Conan the Barbarian. However, that has not changed the fact that the 76-year-old had chosen to go down the more peaceful route in his life.

Back in 2021, America was in complete disarray after Joe Biden won the Presidential election, followed by the Capitol Hill Riots on January 6th. Though it lasted only a day, the incident left most of the nation in shock. This is when Arnold Schwarzenegger decided to take matters into his own hands. In an attempt to calm everyone down, the actor decided to favor social media and reach out to the public. In his new book, Be Useful: Seven Tools For Life, he shared what went on in his head back then and how thought “maybe they could heal” through his video.

His idea of calming the whole situation down came shortly after the riots began. He said that when it was still just an idea, he could see “an image” in his head which he turned into reality. The video featured not only the star but the sword from Conan the Barbarian in his hands. The sword brought back memories of violence from the 1982 film. However, Schwarzenegger molded it as “a metaphor for our democracy” in his speech.

While his speech, A Servant’s Heart, got America through a dark moment in history, Schwarzenegger’s “promise of America” helped him “cut through all divisive nonsense.”
