A staple for an entire generation that followed, the NBC sitcom Friends, had a runway beyond the ordinary. Boasting a star-studded cast, Friends also paved the way for lucrative paychecks that ensued. An estimated shower of $1M per episode was enlisted to the core members of the cast, including Matthew Perry, Courtney Cox, Matt Le Blanc, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, and Lisa Kudrow.

The money was life-changing, to say the least. However, Matthew Perry was caught in a flux of conflicting emotions as was revealed by the late actor once.

Back when Friends was journeying its way to the finale, Matthew Perry had opened up about his feelings about his paycheck. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly (via PEOPLE), he confessed to feeling a “little guilty” while negotiating the amount. Throughout each season, there was a notable increase in the initial amount, starting from $75,000 and reaching up to $1M by the conclusion of the series.

On addressing the pact negotiations, Perry had revealed his ambiguity since he was there “doing something I love”. He also emphasized that the most significant responsibility was ensuring you have to go home and go to sleep.rather than indulging in the “37th drink” simply because one can afford it. Perry also affirmed that he would quit all his money and fame if required to avoid phasing into addiction.

A Los Angeles Entertainment Lawyer, Tre Lovell had revealed about three possibilities while addressing the question to the New York Post. The first is the instance of an existent trust. In such a case, it could be conducted in privacy.

In the event of the existence of his will, it would be operated through court authorization. The third probability would ensure the snub of the initial two’s potency and the fortune would be entrusted to his immediate family members. However, given his history of charity, the chances of him legitimizing his worth to a trust carried more weight than others.
