Matthew Perry skyrocketed to stardom right after the NBC sitcom Friends hit the small screens. His witty character, Chandler Bing, is still popular as the reigning king of sarcasm, who had some of the most epic lines and catchphrases in the American sitcom. While the actor had his audience in stitches with his antics, he was navigating through some particularly trying stretches because of his addictions. However, he was not the only one treading this road in life.

John Bennet Perry, the father of the Friends alum, dealt with some similar challenges. However, the 82-year-old had a very different journey as compared to his son. Recently, Matthew Perry shared a heartwarming picture with his father on Instagram, who not only shared similar life struggles but could also pass for twins!

Matthew Perry took to Instagram to share a picture of him and his dad with a caption saying, “Here is me, and my father John, both holding a beverage”. In the picture, the father-son duo stood arm-in-arm alongside a pool table placed in front of a sign that reads, “I forget what I forgot.” The picture instantly blew up the internet with headlines calling them lookalikes of each other. This post came just days after the star asked Elon Musk why he is not “able to invent a silent leaf blower“.

70s folk would remember John Bennet Perry, Matthew Perry’s father, as the suave sailor from the Old Spice fragrance commercials. He was also someone who deeply influenced his son. During the interview with the Heart of the Matter podcast, the Numb actor revealed how he got these compulsive tendencies from his father. The 54-year-old shared that his father was a “functional alcoholic”, however, he gave it up after receiving a reality check from his wife, Suzzane Perry.
