Marvel Jesus Finally Dethrones ‘The Passion of Christ’ for the Most Esteemed Accolade for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine'
What started as a leak once has now turned into a bounty that does not stop giving. The Deadpool franchise has had one too many twists and turns right where it hurts, but much like the Merc with a Mouth, it has always managed to grow back the limbs that were slashed. However, this time around with Deadpool & Wolverine, the mutant might have grown them double or even quadruple, if the box office collection is anything to go by.
Put forth as the first R-rated Marvel movie, the box office collection of Deadpool & Wolverine is not just huge, but apparently bigger than The Passion of Christ too.

The Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer has proven to be the joy that sets the box office on fire as it colors the town yellow and red. Among the many crowns that it now holds lies the title of bringing Marvel back to grace. However, Deadpool & Wolverine is much more than being the only Marvel movie in years to see such numbers. More specifically, it is now the only R-rated movie with a $824 Million collection just on its eighth day, leaving The Passion of Christ, which held the record for the most successful R-rated movie for twenty years far behind.
The Passion of Christ was released in 2004 and collected a whopping $370 Million at that point in time. Deadpool & Wolverine has evidently surpassed that number by a huge margin and currently reigns as the most successful R- rated movie. Now, if the movie were to gain any more momentum, it would become the first $1 Billion film in the R-rated category.
While it may have caused absolute havoc at the box office and overthrown a two-decades-old ruler in one category, Deadpool & Wolverine is not slowing down.

Last year as Barbie and Oppenheimer battled to attain the top spot at the box office while simultaneously showcasing the most bizarre marketing campaign in ages, cinephiles took it in with wonder, concluding that this spectacle could not be topped. But all it took was for Ryan Reynolds to do a runway strut with Hugh Jackman in comic-accurate clothing as NSYNC boomed in the background to minimize the Barbenheimer hype to the size of an ant.
While the movie is yet to cross the Billion dollar mark, it is only a matter of when as it continues to rank on top not just in the US but also in several other countries in Asia, curtsy of the incredibly entertaining press tour that Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy took on. Moreover, the cleverly placed cameos and most importantly the plot have set the stone for the movie to become one of the greatest success that Marvel has ever seen.
