Major MCU Update Could Setup an Iconic Spiderman Team-Up, and It's Not Deadpool or Captain America
Ever since Deadpool & Wolverine, the hype around MCU team-ups has reached a new level. Given that Spider-Man is the next big hook the studio would try to pull another billion-dollar success with, the anticipation is also high regarding who could be joining Peter Parker for his journey ahead. Some of the most popular choices are Deadpool, for obvious reasons, and Captain America, considering the first time we saw Tom Holland's wall-crawler was in Captain America: Civil War. However, recently, MCU introduced yet another team-up possibility.
This team-up can be traced back to one of the Spider-Man films, but it is not quite what you think.

Back in 2019, Spider-Man: Far From Home had a post-credit scene that stirred up a lot of discourse. It was a Nova Easter Egg- a nod to Richard Rider. Now that it is official that a Nova MCU project is underway, fans have been wondering if we could see a Nova and Spider-Man team up in the fourth installment of the Tom Holland starrer. Whether or not that comes through, Holland’s Spider-Man could have an iconic team-up with Ed Bernero, who has recently come on board as a writer and showrunner on the Nova series project, as per Deadline.
Bernero, known for his CBS show Criminal Minds, replaced Sabir Pirzada, as the head writer for Nova. This would be the first full feature of Nova, who is also considered as an Avengers-level hero, since the Nova Corps first appeared in The Guardians of the Galaxy. Earlier this year, some insider reports suggested that MCU was looking for a new female lead and a male counterpart to challenge Holland’s Spider-Man.
This came right amid the speculations that Zendaya’s MJ might not be a part of Peter Parker’s journey in the fourth installment.
Will MJ be replaced in Spider-Man 4?
Toward the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker completely abandoned his Peter Parker persona, paving the way for more of a solo movie. This made fans wonder if MJ should be playing Peter’s love interest ina major role, as that would risk ruining the effectiveness of the third movie’s ending. A popular theory also suggests that even if MJ makes a comeback in the fourth movie, she will have a small role.

From there, came the Black Cat speculations. And the most preferred choice for the role of Black Cat is none other than the Madame Web star, Sydney Sweeney- and fans have already picked out several comic stories for this team-up. We will still have to wait to see who would be joining Tom Holland in his superhero shenanigans on screen, but with Ed Bernero’s MCU update, it is safe to say that this potential creative collaboration could be undoubtedly interesting.
