Let's face it. Fans are nowhere near making peace with the news of Henry Cavill being replaced as Superman by David Corenswet. While James Gunn's new choice of superheroes looks decent enough for a new generation, people who are accustomed to Cavill and his ways will never find solace. With his iconic suit and chiseled good looks, fans still envision him as the perfect Man of Steel. Indeed, Corenswet is trying his best to step into the role and fill the shoes, but things are looking a little different. 

Recently, with the first look of Corenswet out as Superman, fans are having a hard time trying to wrap their heads not just around the new face but also the new suit.

As James Gunn unveiled the first glimpse into his new realm of Superman, it broke into an instant interest sensation but not in Gunn’s interest. As unrecognizable as he looked, avid fans knew where the faults lay. Aggravated by the return of the classic red trunks, and the shorter cape with additional yellows, not much has been added to fans' delight.

Unlike Cavill's, Corenswet’s suit has a red ‘S’ carved out in a yellow background. While fans are already disappointed with the notable changes, the physic that wears the suit has also not gained much appreciation from the fans. The collar, being higher than any previous Superman suit, has also added to the unending list of disappointments.

Terming it a straight “downgrade,” Cavill fans have stormed X expressing their concern over the deterioration of their favourite superhero.

When asked to weigh both the Superman side-by-side, an angry user took to the comment section claiming since it is not Henry Cavill, “it is certainly a downgrade”. Another user commented the changes could have still worked fine if James Gunn & co. came up with better tweaks. However, the same user wrote nothing beats the Cavill suit, come what may. 

Another furious user stormed into the hoard of reactions, claiming the entire situation was “a catastrophic failure”. 

Not only the physical appearances and suit, but various other factors like acting style, character implementation, and simple resentment of moving away from an ideal figure whom they knew and loved have made it difficult for the fans to move on.
