When it first came out in 2011, USA Network’s Suits was deemed an instant hit. With Patrick J. Adams, Gabriel Macht, and Meghan Markle headlining the cast, the series’ dramatic courthouse sequences and romance-filled subplots became irresistible for viewers. After an acclaimed run that lasted nine whole seasons, the show’s fate was placed in the hands of the OTT mogul, Netflix. There, Suits continue to soar even today through an unstoppable upward trend even today. What show creator would not want that kind of luck for their show?

Even after all these years, there has been a Suits revival which even surprised the Duchess quite recently. However, popular directors and showmakers have picked up one show that might have an everlasting run like Suits. 

Showrunners pick their choices in parallel to Suits

Earlier this week, The Hollywood Reporter held a survey of showrunners in which they also chose their pick of a deserving candidate that should enjoy the same success as Suits. Well, Dallas Jenkins who helmed The Chosen, picked the late 90s show, Sports Night. The popular Buzzfeed personality and now director of Abbott Elementary, Quinta Brunson, chose the early 2000s comedy series, 30 Rock. The executive co-producer of Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer, David E. Kelley, chose the 80s drama, St. Elsewhere. 

According to Yellowjackets creator, Ashley Lyle, the comedy show about a psychic detective, Psych, deserved the same fate as Suits. John D. Payne, who serves as a writer and producer for a Lord of The Rings franchise spin-off, Rings of Power picked two, Firefly and Freaks & Geeks. Meanwhile, Robert King, who created a show quite similar to Suits after its end, The Good Fight picked his own series. 

Speaking of the unparallelled success like that of Suits, some doubts were cast on Netflix’s methods. 

Did Meghan Markle have something to do with Netflix’s Suits ratings? 

One factor that has caused the show to return as a hyped series recently has been the way it has dominated Netflix’s streaming charts. Well, some in the entertainment industry have speculated that the show was being pushed upwards intentionally by Netflix for the sake of keeping Meghan Markle relevant. If this result was achieved, the streaming giant would certainly benefit from it. 

This is because Meghan Markle’s exit from her British royal clan signifies the possibility of her Hollywood return. Not only is this a possibility, but has also been heavily hinted at recently. So, if Netflix were to bring Suits back into the limelight, any next moves by the Duchess of Sussex would be automatically highlighted. Although these theories have not been confirmed to date, Suits continues to ride high on its Netflix success.
