The 75th Emmy Awards was undeniably one of the most awaited ceremonies of the year. After much delay, it finally returned to dazzle the world with heartfelt celebrity moments and wins. But what warmed the hearts of viewers around the globe was the emotional tribute to Friends star Matthew Perry, who passed away on October 28, 2023, at his home in LA. The event honored the memory of the actor and his contribution to show business.

Since the award ceremony cherished the beloved star who never secured an Emmy win despite nominations, it only feels right to look back at the wins of his show at Emmys.

For one decade, the Friends team has made viewers laugh, cry, and drink coffee with them. The group of six friends living in NYC hooked the attention of people, making it a success. During its run between 1994 to 2004, the show received a staggering 62 Primetime Emmy nominations. Among those, the show won six awards, including Best Comedy Series in 2002.

Lisa Kudrow won the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 1998, whereas Jennifer Aniston won the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 2002. In addition to its impressive guest stars, the NBC series garnered nominations for Outstanding Guest Actor/Actress in a Comedy Series. This resulted in wins for Bruce Willis and Christina Applegate in 2000 and 2003, respectively. The sixth win for the show came when director Michael Lembeck won an Emmy for directing The One After the Superbowl.

Courteney Cox was one of the leading members of the comedy-drama. However, this talented actress never got recognition for her iconic role as Monica Geller. From the character’s obsession with cleaning and cooking to her heartwarming love story with Chandler Bing, nothing could back her an Emmy nomination. Though the reason behind this snub remains a mystery, the Scream star shared her insight once.

In 2021, Cox told Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show that being overseen by the Emmys hurt her feelings. However, she was happy for her friends that they received recognition for their performance. Not to mention, this snub has not affected the love the actress had for her character, who often takes to social media to channel her inner Monica.
