Some of the biggest names in Hollywood have slipped into a super suit for the MCU, which is part of why people say this studio is swallowing the industry whole. While some of these actors play pivotal roles in the MCU’s grand storyline, others often get lost in the shuffle due to their limited screen time or forgettable characters. The MCU’s latest addition, the Deadpool franchise, is not breaking this trend either. Since the very first Deadpool movie, there have been plenty of iconic and talented stars that fans feel have been underutilized in the universe.

Now, one of these actors has made it clear they are ready to step out of the shadows and into a bigger, more memorable role.

It has been years since rumors about potential Copycat casting have been making the rounds in the MCU fandom. However, the most credible rumor of all was Marvel eyeing Morena Baccarin for the role- simply because it fits perfectly with the alter ego of her ongoing MCU role in Deadpool, Vanessa Carlysle. Recently, while chatting with Comic Book, Baccarin shared that she is still open to the idea of playing Copycat- perhaps in Deadpool 4.I’ve only been waiting like five years. I’m not getting any younger or skinnier, so now’s the time,” she said.

Baccarin’s character, Vanessa, has been an essential part of Deadpool's origin. Despite that, she was pushed aside in the sequels in favor of pairing Deadpool first with other superheroes- first with Cable and then with Wolverine. And anyone familiar with Baccarin knows how long she has articulated her desire to portray an iconic superhero, even if it meant making a jump to the DCU. The Greenland actress once addressed the frustrations of MCU fans who feel her character has been sidelined in the franchise.

Baccarin stressed why, despite her limited screen time in Deadpool 2, she was on board with the film’s vision.

A fan-favorite aspect that Deadpool & Wolverine completely overlooked- more so than any other installment of the Deadpool franchise- was the chemistry between Wade and Vanessa. Even in the second film, Vanessa was killed off early on. And fans were not happy to see her character getting benched either. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Morena Baccarin admitted she was "disappointed" about it too.

Baccarin, however, pointed out that she felt she had an "emotionally pivotal role in the film," since Deadpool’s entire character arc kicked off because of what happened to Vanessa. "It felt that I was very involved in the movie even though I didn't have a lot of scenes,” added the 45-year-old. However, it looks like she is now ready to step out of that box and is hoping to take on something bigger in the MCU.
