As one of the leading producers and distributors of Hollywood, Lionsgate has given us innumerable masterpieces. From thrillers like the John Wick series to timeless coming-of-age flicks like The Hunger Games, the production mogul has seen immense success. And classic comedies like The Hitman’s Bodyguard starring <a href="https://www.netflixjunkie.com/tag/ryan-reynolds/?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=internal_links&amp;utm_campaign=hashtags">Ryan Reynolds</a> would have never been possible without this entertainment company. 
Much to the delight of film fanatics, the company has just announced a surprise expansion. In buying a fellow Canadian entertainment company called Entertainment One, its franchises grow further in numbers.
<h2>Entertainment One was under this parent company since 2019</h2>
Having now sold for half a billion, eOne was earlier owned by the multinational toy and board game company, Hasbro. The makers of iconic children&#8217;s toys like Nerf and Transformers, Hasbro recently partnered with <a href="https://www.netflixjunkie.com/tag/stranger-things/">Stranger Things</a> for a <a href="https://www.netflixjunkie.com/netflix-news-this-stranger-things-and-transformers-collaboration-is-giving-us-life-code-red-collectible-revealed/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Transformers toy based on a vehicle from the Netflix show</a>. In 2019, they acquired eOne for a whopping $4 billion. Now, four years later, they have happily relinquished their rights over the titles under them to Lionsgate.

The company&#8217;s departure from Hasbro includes film development rights for the upcoming Monopoly movie going to Lionsgate. Meanwhile, Hasbro retains its ownership over its family brands division, meaning that the iconic children’s show Peppa Pig stays with them.

There are quite a few shows that will see a change in ownership with Entertainment One’s departure. And among them is one fan-favorite reality drama series. 
<h2>Which movies and shows have Lionsgate acquired?</h2>
Besides the team behind the Canadian company, the sale will also see a transfer of  6,500 titles. These include the Nathan Fillion starrer cop drama called The Rookie. Another thriller drama is Yellowjackets starring Christina Ricci. And fans of reality TV would be familiar with the survival game show Naked and Afraid, which airs on Discovery Channel.

The successful conglomerate, Hasbro, held onto most of their children’s shows except for the reality show Play-Doh Squished. Although the deal will close by the end of 2023, the transfers of power have already begun.
