The world has never known a Merc with a Mouth who is not Ryan Reynolds, so there was no doubt about his return for Deadpool & Wolverine. However, casting Hugh Jackman as Wolverine for this MCU venture was met with skepticism, partly because of Jackman's statements and partly from Marvel Cinematic Universe officials’ unwillingness. Despite these concerns, Jackman's inclusion in the dream team reassured fans until Reynolds recently called out Jackman for his false prophets, citing these very reasons.

The Deadpool actor’s surprising remarks about his co-star, Jackman, came during one of the latest conversations about Deadpool & Wolverine.

Ryan Reynolds was recently approached by AP Entertainment during IF’s New York City Premiere on Monday night, seeking pointers about how he convinced Hugh Jackman to sign up for Deadpool & Wolverine. Reflecting on Jackman, who was steadfast on not bringing Wolverine back from the dead like the Marvel boss, Kevin Feige’s commitment, Reynolds took a swipe at his co-star, joking that it is then now common knowledge that “Hugh is a liar”.

Reynolds added, true to his witty quips, that Jackman is “a bald-faced, horrible coward, and a liar” for promising fans otherwise. Nevertheless, given Jackman is indeed back as the Wolverine, fans can now take a sigh of relief. Reynolds further seized the opportunity to divulge some spoilers, reinstating that the biggest lookout till now may have been Jackman’s return as Wolverine. However, it is about how Wolverine returns that is the most intriguing aspect of the story. Hence, fans need to wait for answers on that one instead of how he convinced Jackman to come on board.

In a recent conversation with Empire Magazine, Hugh Jackman addressed the most-asked question about his role in Deadpool & Wolverine, particularly the Wolverine variant he will portray. According to Jackman, this new Wolverine will be distinct from the ones familiar to fans from the X-Men franchise and the idea of a fresh take on Wolverine struck him during a long drive.

Unsure of what to do next, Jackman revealed how he wasted no time calling Ryan Reynolds and excitedly asked, "If you’ll have me, I’m in." As per Jackman, this moment was pivotal, as Shawn Levy noted that the story "completely changed" from there. While the specifics of how Wolverine enters Deadpool's world remain under wraps, fan theories abound. Therefore, with the movie's release on July 26, the air of skepticism may finally be dispelled.
