“Let’s have a..” – ‘Oppenheimer’s’ Cillian Murphy Shows Enthusiasm to Play Ken for ‘Barbie’, but Fans Have Some Twisted Ideas
From making nuclear bombs to being a blonde in a pink plastic world, Cillian Murphy is willing to do it all. Considered one of the most talented actors today, he floored the viewers yet again with his performance in Oppenheimer. The movie itself is one of the many masterpieces of director Christopher Nolan and it lived up to its hype. Competing furiously alongside is Greta Gerwig’s Barbie starring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie.
Murphy skillfully brought out the story based around World War II, in a movie that promised to use no CGI. Playing on another screen was the plastic world of Mattel’s production. Naturally, people involved were asking for opinions on the other project. In an interview with Cinefolis, Murphy was asked whether he would like to play Ken in the Barbie sequel.

His reply seemed affirmative as he said, “Let’s have a conversation.” He is willing to read the script if one comes his way in the future. Although he has not seen Gerwig’s movie yet, he encouraged watching it to promote all good movies.
Barbie made $162 million while Oppenheimer collected $82.5 million on the first weekend. The super success of both is dubbed together as ‘Barbenheimer ‘, but what do fans feel about the crossover of the two?
Twitterati react to the idea of Cillian Murphy playing Ken in Barbie 2
We know Cillian Murphy for being a versatile actor, but could he replace Ryan Gosling as Ken? His willingness got fans thinking, and they have interesting ideas of their own. One fan supports the idea and thinks that he could play the plastic doll, but Gosling could not replace him as a physicist. Another one feels that the exchange between Murphy and Robbie could be great instead.
Then there was a 2006 movie Breakfast in Pluto where Murphy looked pretty dressed up as a woman, a look that fans adored. But one fan feels that actors’ enthusiasm perhaps comes from wanting to work in a more successful movie. Both the flicks are doing great, but viewers cannot stop constant comparisons.
Not everyone is in on the plan, as one fan just called it an ‘odd crossover’ and another just disliked it.
The plastic world has everyone looking so perfect that a fan feels that the Irish actor is too old for the role. But the references are fun, with a fan bringing yet another crossover, naming it ‘Peaky Barbie’, a mix of Peaky Blinders and Barbie.
