The most polarizing filmmaker out there, Zack Snyder, is back to ruffling fans' feathers. Snyder has given the DCEU universe a new take on the mighty hero, portraying him as a lost soul trying to do the right thing in a complicated world. His not-so-mainstream interpretation of the character received equal amounts of love and criticism. However, now that his Henry Cavill-led Man of Steel is in the rearview mirror, the director still seems to be having a tough time moving on from the character, or so fans think.

On his Vero account, Zack Snyder recently shared a never-before-seen Clark Kent picture of Henry Cavill. This picture was likely taken from an early scene in Cavill's DCEU debut. Snyder captioned the post, “This came up on my time line.” Before James Gunn took over DCU and chose to pull a full reboot of the Superman franchise, Snyder had some ambitious plans for Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel.

Snyder told GQ magazine earlier this year that his Superman would have battled a formidable adversary and "was going to have to succumb to the Anti-life". The plan was to turn back the clock for a final showdown against Darkseid, which would have given closure to Snyder's Man of Steel trilogy. Despite these ambitious plans, many fans believe that it is time for Snyder to close the chapter on his Man of Steel journey and move forward.

Zack Snyder’s inability to do so has led fans to mercilessly troll the filmmaker on social media.

Henry Cavill's departure as Superman left many fans feeling blue. They were also skeptical about the major shake-up the franchise was about to undergo. However, with new behind-the-scenes pictures surfacing from the 2025 Superman movie, coupled with cameo rumors and fresh superheroes set to debut in the DCU, fans have started to buy into James Gunn’s vision. This newfound optimism has led fans to mock Snyder even more, suggesting that if they have "let it go", he should too.

Many fans also felt that Snyder is not able to move on from his Man of Steel because his other projects are not doing well.

The loyal fans of Man of Steel, however, were hit with nostalgia after seeing Snyder’s post.

Some fans, however, speculated that Zack Snyder was hinting at an upcoming project with Cavill's Superman. While the likelihood of a fresh venture is a long shot, Snyder has hinted at a re-release of Justice League. Nevertheless, it appears the majority of fans have turned the page on Snyder’s Superman and are urging him to channel his creativity into other projects.
