“Lady Deadpool finally won”- Blake Lively Eyes a Blockbuster Outstripping for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ With ‘It Ends With Us’

When the world was teeming with fan theories hoping Marvel Studios would confirm Lady Deadpool as Blake Lively, the network and creators decided to keep the big reveal under wraps for the bigger day. However, fans had long suspected that Ryan Reynolds’ wife was the perfect choice for the role, given her knack for the humor Lady Deadpool demands. Although Lady Deadpool never intended to supplement Marvel’s Merc with a Mouth, but rather to challenge him, in real life, she now aims to stand out even more with It Ends With Us, eying a dethronement of Deadpool & Wolverine.

Deadpool & Wolverine has stirred havoc in the Marvel scene, but their reign might be short-lived as one of their own is now aiming for an even bigger box-office run. As the nearly billion-dollar film enjoys its well-deserved victory lap, Film Updates announced on X that Blake Lively’s It Ends With Us, premiering on August 9, could potentially challenge the dominance of Deadpool & Wolverine. There is a chance that It Ends With Us will surpass Lively's husband’s superhero film in the rankings next weekend based on presales, possibly ending Reynolds' brief stint as Marvel Jesus at the top.

Blake Lively recently disclosed an unexpected connection she shares with Ryan Reynolds that extends from Deadpool & Wolverine to It Ends With Us: the composer, Rob Simonsen. While fans initially believed that Lady Deadpool and Simonsen were the only points of overlap between these different genres and stories, few anticipated that Lively would have more in common with Reynolds beyond this. Now, with the release of It Ends With Us, she aims to capture a share of the success Deadpool & Wolverine has been enjoying.

Blake Lively fans expand the Lady Deadpool antics as It Ends With Us aims to dethrone Deadpool & Wolverine

Deadpool & Wolverine provided the summer jolt that the box office needed, but now It Ends With Us, starring Blake Lively, seems ready to take over the success baton from the dynamic duo. While Deadpool & Wolverine remains one of the most anticipated releases of 2024, with Joker: Folie à Deux still somewhat down the line, fans did not expect a romantic comedy to challenge what Hugh Jackman only jokingly refers to as a romantic comedy.

Many fans had doubts about the forecast. However, the rest were too busy reveling in the irony of the situation to notice.

Others also saw a connection to the Taylor Swift influence, which has seemingly caused Ryan Reynolds to be displaced by Ryan Reynolds himself. Although Lady Deadpool's victory remains a concept confined to an alternate reality in the Deadpool universe, Lively appears to have brought the multiverse into reality on her own. By stepping out of the superhero suit and embracing the ordinary, she is now set to make the extraordinary seem possible.
