This would mark Prince Harry's first trip to Britain since his sister-in-law, Princess Kate Middleton, announced her battle with cancer post-surgery in January. Since the King’s coronation, the Duke has not shared a public platform with his brother, Prince William. Nonetheless, with the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, if media reports are to be believed, King Charles III is mulling over extending an olive branch to his estranged family this summer at Balmoral Castle. An insider told Page Six that the monarch "desperately" wants to “see the children”.
King Charles has only met Prince Archie a few times, while he has had the opportunity to meet Princess Lilibet in person just once. As the insider suggested, the King might want to make up with his family because he feels "life is just too short". However, there are rumblings about Meghan Markle potentially skipping the UK trip, which could cast a shadow of disappointment over this much-anticipated reunion.
If Meghan Markle decides not to come back to the UK, it is highly likely that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will not be making the trip either.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been living in the United States since they stopped being senior royals in 2020. Since then, a lot has changed in how the UK sees them. Earlier this year, Prince Harry lost a legal fight against the UK Home Office and RAVEC, who lowered his security level after he left his royal duties.
The ongoing rifts within the royal family and the security issues surrounding the Sussexes' potential return to the UK seem to be the primary factors behind Meghan Markle's apparent decision to forgo the trip, even as Prince Harry plans to visit London shortly. Nevertheless, fans are expected to hold out hope for reconciliation within the royal ranks until the very end.
