Kate Middleton has for long been regarded as the picture of sophisticated grace. Be it in the way her real crown has always been her acts of compassion and generosity, or how she has dutifully adhered to the royal norms. But the Princess of Cambridge, as picture-perfect as she may be, also has her moments of relatable mishaps and unscripted charm that endear her to the public even further.

While mistakes are almost lethal as she gets closer to becoming the Queen, there was once a time a newly married Kate Middleton made a precious blunder that led to a name revelation.

Back when Kate Middleton ousted herself on a shopping spree

While breaks from their busy royal schedules come only in the form of highlighted trips to Balmoral now, there was a time not long after their marriage when Kate Middleton and Prince William lived in a remote farmhouse. Yet to take on the role of a full-time working royal, Middleton often visited the local shops. On one such occasion, as per The Mirror, the Duchess, when inquired, revealed she goes by “Mrs. Cambridge”.

It is unclear if the Princess knowingly made the blunder and identified as “Mrs. Cambridge” or if she meant to say Duchess of Cambridge guy.

All this was a result of the Princess’ pursuit to buy a wetsuit. Who knew it could be a royal title?

Why does Middleton not go by her most popular royal title?

The Duchess of Cambridge is often addressed adoringly by her fans as “Catherine”, her maiden name. But as her fans now have every right to address her as the Princess of Wales, Middleton is not a huge fan. Not just Princess but Middleton’s other title ‘Duchess of Cambridge’ is also collecting dust as she continues to be addressed as Kate Middleton. On one hand, despite adhering to most, if not every, royal rule, Kate Middleton mostly goes by her name.

On the other hand, Meghan Markle still holds closely the title of Duchess despite not having visited the country in more than a year. But whatever loose ends they left in the use of her royal title, King Charles has made up for it greatly by bestowing her with various military titles.
