Kate Middleton Added a Royal Twist to the Viral Gold or Blue Dress with Her Coronation Attire
The days leading to King Charles’ coronation constituted many heated debates. While some touched on the staggering cost and others on the VIP guest list, one that intrigued the eyes of both was Kate Middleton and her choice of outfit at the coronation. When it comes to making any event memorable, Middleton seems to be the Royal family’s strongest soldier. Therefore, as the world looked upon them, the Princess of Wales made no mistake with her dress by adding just the right amount of bedazzled. And voluntarily or involuntarily, a huge dose of mystery.
On the 6th of May, Kate Middleton and Prince William, along with their children, arrived late to the Coronation. While many cited their kids as the reason, the Prince of Wales’ near-perfect dress also seems like a plausible reason. Or at least what fans thought was her dress.

The 41-year-old beauty has always adhered to Royal guidelines while also ranking up in fashion with her dresses. Hence the hoo-ha that surrounded her coronation outfit. However, during the ceremony, Middleton proudly wore her Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order robe. While it covered most of the stunning Alexander McQueen dress underneath, netizens noted an embroidered high neckline as one of its elements. However, they were proved wrong when the official portraits were released and featured the Princess of Wales sporting a serene white dress with a low neckline.
As the portrait threw the high-neckline assumption that fans had out of the window, quite an entertaining kerfuffle ensued. While some passionately argued that Prince Louis has spilled something on it, others held their ground at Middleton wearing the dress backside front at the coronation.
The most plausible explanation, however, is that she wore a temporary cape akin to Princess Charlotte in order to protect her dress from the heavy-hanging robe.

The robe that seems to be the culprit in the confusion surrounding Middleton’s dress is no ordinary robe. Had it been, it is unlikely that the Princess of Wales would have worn it over her intricately designed Alexander McQueen dress. The Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian robe signifies her prominent position as a Royal.
The late Queen had bestowed her with the owner in 2019 and, on a request by King Charles and the Queen Consort, the Princess wore her robe to the coronation. While the mystery behind the dress is yet to be cleared, Middleton looked majestic in both dresses. High neckline or low neckline.
