Just Like Henry Cavill, 7 Times Mr. Olympia Winner, Arnold Schwarzenegger Also Wanted to Join the Army but for a Different Reason
If we talk about the achievements of Arnold Schwarzenegger, it will certainly be a long one. The legendary actor has made his name in the film industry as an action hero. Along with his acting career, the 75-year-old actor has established himself as a bodybuilder as well. In fact, Schwarzenegger has won the title of Mr. Olympia 7 times. However, there is one thing that the actor did before becoming a trendsetter in Hollywood.
A few days before the release of his first-ever TV series, FUBAR, the Commando actor had an interview with Danny DeVito for the Interview magazine. Starting from his childhood, the Austrian actor talked about so many things. One topic that DeVito asked Schwarzenegger about was the moment the bodybuilding legend left his home. Schwarzenegger revealed he left his house at an early age to join the army. As surprising as it might sound, The Terminator actor actually served in the Austrian army.
He revealed joining the army was his way of getting out of his home, as he did not want to stay like that. As he revealed in the interview, before becoming global fame, Arnold Schwarzenegger was not that rich. Therefore, he wanted to create his own healthy and wealthy future. So, he left home, joined the army to eat well and train hard. Since the day the actor left his home, he had only one goal in his mind: To train his body for the bodybuilding competitions.

The urge for bodybuilding competitions started at the age of 15. And soon, the FUBAR star went ahead to achieve his dream. While his days in the army led him to stardom in Hollywood, Henry Cavill, an actor also known for his physique, once had a dream that was quite opposite to the Austrian’s.
The Man of Steel star once revealed if he had not been able to make it in the acting career, he was planning to join the army. But fortunately, it turned out great for both the actors.
Even at the age of 75, Schwarzenegger still trains himself regardless of having a character to play or not. For his recent comeback, he trained himself very hard, as he once shared in another interview.

To portray any character, actors have to prepare for it not only physically but mentally as well. Therefore, The Last Action Hero star once shared his routine. For his workout, he never skipped his cycling, nor did he ever miss his gym workout. However, his entire workout also included a lot of meditation, too.
Because he performed almost every stunt himself, he wanted to make it look natural. Therefore, he also had intense training sessions with his stunt crew to make action his second nature. No wonder Schwarzenegger still has the discipline to stick to his workout routine. That is one of the reasons he is so fit and is considered the best action hero today.
