Just Days After Her Speculated Return to DC, Gal Gadot Breaks Her Silence on Henry Cavill Recasting
It is a bird, a plane, …a new Superman? The ever-changing slate and pace of the DC Universe continue to bring surprises and news. After mere days of reports that Gal Gadot is returning to DC, she now speaks for Henry Cavill. Gadot’s co-star, who played Superman, was unceremoniously stripped of his red cape after a reboot under James Gunn and Peter Safran. Much to the chagrin of long-time fans, Gunn has also settled on a new actor to play his version of the iconic superhero.
Gadot, who starred alongside Cavill as Wonder Woman in Justice League, recently shared her thoughts on the Superman recasting.

Gal Gadot, who has played Wonder Woman since 2016, recently expressed her opinion on the new actor who will replace Henry Cavill as Superman. Gadot is, however, not yet aware of who would be taking Cavill’s place. Nevertheless, she remained optimistic and hoped for the new actor’s talent and charm, expressing her support and encouragement for them. The actress’ words indicated that she harbored no hard feelings toward Cavill’s departure or replacement.
In an interview with Comicbook, the 38-year-old actress revealed that although she knew that Gunn and Co. were screening trial tests for a replacement, she does not know upon whom they settled. “I wish whoever it’s going to be the best of luck and enjoy the ride,” she added. Gadot appears hopeful about the future of the DC Universe, which is currently undergoing drastic changes.
Meanwhile, James Gunn and Peter Safran are about to follow up Gadot’s previous movies with Wonder Woman 3. Although it is still unclear if Gadot will be asked to reprise her role.

James Gunn is spearheading the DC reboot with his vision, starting with Superman: Legacy. David Corenswet, Henry Cavill’s replacement, was announced to play the role of Clark Kent/Superman. The film will introduce a new slate of DC movies, featuring a younger and more modern version of the Man of Steel. Additionally, Gunn reset the entire timeline with The Flash to push forward his vision. However, a stem of confusion lies with the beloved character of Batman.
Michael Keaton returned after decades to reprise his role and so did Ben Affleck in The Flash movie. Even though the movie erased these two iterations from the main timeline, Robert Pattinson’s much-acclaimed Batman is still at large. It is unclear where Gunn decides to fit him. Similarly, another one of the trinity, Wonder Woman, too, is unclear with the lead.
