“Just a solid dude” – Nick Cannon Reveals How Will Smith Helped Him Succeed in the Industry
Will Smith is one of the most iconic actors in the entertainment industry. Over the course of his career, fans have seen him doing movies where he is a stubborn guy saving the world. Or the supersmart man donning his black suit for some challenging action scenes. It is astounding to see that even after garnering such stardom in Hollywood; he does not stand back when it comes to helping people. The American rapper and host Nick Cannon recently dwelled on the time when Smith supported him during the beginning of his career in the industry.
During his appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Nick Cannon opened up about how Will Smith took him under his wing for guidance. In the interview, the host asked the California native about how the Oscar winner signed him after watching his tape. In his response, the actor revealed that the Bad Boys star saw a reflection of his younger self in him when he used to rap.

Impressed by Cannon, Smith gave him a script for a television show, a record deal, and even a cameo in the famous Men in Black franchise. “He was truly a mentor when I was 16 and always was a great example man, just a solid dude,” explained the 42-year-old.
Today Nick Cannon is one of the leading TV hosts in America, but he gives the credit to his mentor for bringing him into the limelight at a young age.
Will Smith once warned Nick Cannon to not spend his money
The Wild ‘n Out creator has always been transparent about his relationship with the Suicide Squad star. Even so, he never hides the mistakes he made along the way to success and how his mentor warned him. According to Afrotech, Nick Cannon had once blown away a hefty check that Will Smith gave him with advice to use it wisely.

Despite his warning, the Drumline star went on squandering that $200,000 and bought a Range Rover with it. “Not even a year [later]- I totaled that car and lost it and was living back at my mom’s house … my mom’s was living in that condo back in San Diego a year later,” recalled the rapper.

Looking back at the time, he regretted that he should have listened to Will Smith and, instead of wasting money on luxury, should have done something worth it.
