As reported by Entertainment Tonight (ET), Joshua Jackson opened up about his motivations for joining the upcoming The Karate Kid film on the Disney Upfront red carpet on Tuesday, May 15. The Dawson's Creek star shared that he wanted to make a movie that he could potentially watch with his daughter, something he could not do in a long time. "Part of the reason why I wanted to make the movie is that it'll be the first thing in a very, very long time that I can potentially watch with my daughter," Jackson told ET.

Prior to this, there have been instances where the divorced father to a 4-year-old spoke of his dynamics with his daughter. While narrating the nuances of parenting which brings back the child in oneself, Jackson revealed how the father-daughter duo has been doing lately. “She's so hyper-verbal and she's very very opinionated,” said the star back in 2022, taking delight in engaging in that conversation with her.
