Joseph Quinn recently appeared for a chat with Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast. When asked about how he landed the role of Johnny Storm in The Fantastic Four, and whether it involved a lengthy audition process, Quinn revealed that it was actually as "straightforward" as it could have been. The 30-year-old had a conversation with Matt Shakman, the director, and then it progressed from there.

Quinn was later invited to their home, which he found "wild" as he could not quite understand what was happening. It was only after learning that actors like Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Vanessa Kirby, and Pedro Pascal were also on board for the project that Quinn realized something huge was in the works. While this would be the Game of Thrones actor’s first Marvel movie, he has already gotten some solid advice from a Marvel regular.

In an interview with PEOPLE, from last week, Joseph Quinn discussed his new apocalyptic thriller A Quiet Place: Day One. Lupita Nyong'o, his co-star from the 2024 movie and already a seasoned Marvel star, had a heart-to-heart with Quinn before his entry into the MCU. “She said that I'm going to have a blast,” said Quinn about the Black Panther star.

Nyong'o has also been very helpful to Quinn when he was contemplating taking the leap and she “spoke about her experience with a lot of fondness”. Her vote of confidence ultimately convinced the Catherine the Great actor to pursue the role.
