Over the years, Robert Downey Jr. has become known in Hollywood, thanks to his roles like Marvel’s Iron Man and Oppenheimer’s Lewis Strauss. While his generous personality precedes him, the actor was recently praised by one of his former Avengers co-stars, Jeremy Renner.

In his films, Robert Downey Jr. has used his hilariously sarcastic humor to leave audiences cracking up. However, he seems to be the same way in his everyday life. During an interview with PEOPLE, Jeremy Renner shared how the 58-year-old helped him feel better during his hospitalization after his snowplow accident. The 53-year-old shared that the Academy Award winner cracked jokes about needing another episode of Paramount+’s Mayor of Kingstown series.
“He’s like, you’ve got to get back to do Mayor because we need to see what happens,” recalled Renner. It may have been a surprising request, but with Downey and his wife, Susan, being huge fans of the show, it made sense that they had their priorities straight. Apart from “great chats on Facetime,” the actor continued to rib his friend about speeding up the recovery process and heading back to the set.
Luckily for the couple, they ended up getting just what they were hoping for with Renner ready to make a comeback from his accident last year.

Since 2021, the world has been taken over by Jeremy Renner’s Mayor of Kingstown. While most fans knew him as Marvel’s Hawkeye, the actor took on a new character and stunned everyone. However, after his snow plow accident in 2023, the 53-year-old’s acting had to take a backseat for a while. Thankfully, he seems to have recovered nicely with news of the series being renewed for a third season making its way online.
Although no official date has been set for the season three release, fans expect it to be released in the summer of this year. While that may a be little unlikely, there is no saying what could happen. However, one thing is for sure, Robert Downey Jr’s ribbing seemed to have worked wonders for Renner.
