Jennifer Aniston Once Shared Which ‘Friends’ Character She Sees Herself in the Most
Friends was the springboard that launched Jennifer Aniston into the big leagues. The actress has since become one of the highest-paid actresses in the industry. Her character, Rachel Green, has been a pop-culture phenomenon, pushing hundreds of women to visit hair salons with photos of Aniston. However, Rachel was not the character the makers of Friends had originally intended for Aniston; it was actually the role of Monica. Nevertheless, Aniston switched up her role as she felt more related to Rachel than Monica.
Turns out, even though she picked Rachel Green’s role in the sitcom, Aniston found herself clicking with another character as well.

Jennifer Aniston sat for an interview with Extra TV nearly three decades ago, right on the sets of Friends. This interview happened sixteen days before the show’s premiere in 1994, with Louis Aguirre. When asked which character is more like her, the Murder Mystery actress took a quick glance at Courteney Cox, who was sitting right behind her on the Central Perk couch, and said she is a “combination image of both Monica and Rachel“. Aniston also shared her hopes and what she anticipated with Rachel Green.
The Emmy-winning actress expressed her desire for her character to discover something “wonderful” that she can relate to on the show. The interviewer also broached the more speculated topic of Rachel’s relationship with “Monica’s brother“, Ross, played by David Schwimmer. While in this interview, Aniston played coy and concealed the secret well behind her hearty laugh, she did not shy away from sharing her preferred character from the sitcom that would be her friend in real life.
On that very day, while on the Friends set, Aniston took some time for another interview with Entertainment Weekly, where she selected her favorite character from the show.

Jennifer Aniston has remained close with the Friends crew long after the show’s end. However, like every fan, she also had a favorite among all six characters. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actress shared that she would like to be friends with David Schwimmer’s character, Ross, in real life. This interview would have truly caused a stir if people had known that Aniston and Schwimmer had a huge crush on each other during the starting days of filming Friends.
Aniston went into detail about why she chose Ross out of the six friends. She shared, “He’s sweet and down-to-earth and doesn’t have that many issues“. While Rachel Green might have made fun of the dorky Geller siblings’ shenanigans on the show, in real life, it appears she is most fond of the pair.
