In response to this news, director Christopher Landon said: “Everything sucks. Stop yelling. This was not my decision to make.” The creator also shared a broken heart emoji along with the comment.
The film’s future looks uncertain after Barrera’s departure as she and Jenna Ortega played sisters. The decision has left the film in disarray, with the filmmaker feeling overwhelmed by the sparked division among fans of the actor. Variety reported that the elimination of the Sam Carpenter actor was not part of the original plan for the sequel. Instead, it stemmed from her anti-Semitic posts on social media as a spokesperson from Spyglass revealed.
