Once upon a time when CGI was in its infancy, high-octane car chases, explosions, guns, and loaded dialogues were what drove Hollywood to be the entertainment capital it is today. However, to command such big projects, studios needed big muscles to be their faces. And thus came to light some of the biggest stars and franchises in Hollywood, along with uncalled rivalries. Often competing for the same projects, the early action landscape frequently had the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Sylvester Stallone, among others, pitted against each other.

With the advancement of time and technology, screen space became plenty, and the feuds came to rest as many often landed the same projects together. Now, reminiscing about their days with a sprinkle of good-old rivalry, Van Damme had something to say.

Jean-Claude Van Damme, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Sylvester Stallone threw their mutual animosities out of their hearts as they starred together in 2012’s The Expendables 2. While bygones are bygones, Van Damme believes that he is braver than the other two heavyweights. In fresh statements to DailyMail, he claimed that “Arnie and Sly, they are afraid to go international, but I am a globetrotter.” The 63-year-old summed up his ‘bravery’ as he went with his movies to “dangerous places like Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan and yet felt “welcomed there.”

Both Schwarzenegger’s and Stallone’s breakthrough projects were shot primarily in the US. The Muscles from Brussels was a big fan of Stallone while embroiled in an intense rivalry with Schwarzenegger. Further, the FUBAR star was himself so up in arms against Stallone that they could not even be in the same room. Yet, after they had all established themselves as action legends, things cooled down. As of now, the trio are moving ahead with their own ventures along with showbiz.

The Bloodsport actor may have extended an olive branch to Arnold Schwarzenegger, yet he is still not done with Steven Seagal. The duo’s feud, which stems back from the early 90s, still persists. In the same interview, Van Damme took a swipe at Seagal, claiming “If Steven doesn’t like me, that’s OK.” The bitter spot in their relationship happened when Seagal questioned the star’s martial arts validity.

“I really don’t mind,” he reiterated his stand on the action legend. Additionally, the two’s beef had reached an alarming peak when Van Damme challenged Seagal outside a Stallone party. Fortunately, it never went ahead and a literal ‘bloodsport’ was prevented. In one of the most long-standing duels in cinema history, only time will tell if there ever will be a thaw.
