Showbiz has always been about the glitz and glamor. But beneath the surface that looks incredibly flashy, there lie thorns of reality checks. Although Hollywood is a fast-forward world where time stops for no one, there have been times when it felt like the fast lane hit a pause. The tragic and untimely loss of Euphoria actor Angus Cloud was one moment when Jay Ellis felt similarly.
While the entertainment capital has no choice but to go on, Ellis recently went on a nostalgia trip, showering heaps of praise on Cloud.

In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Escape Room actor Jay Ellis was asked about his experience working on Freaky Tales (2024) with the star-studded cast of Pedro Pascal, Tom Hanks, Normani, and the late Angus Cloud. Since the movie was primarily filmed in a sequential order, it was not until the very end that he got to shoot his first scene. However, once his part of the story caved in, he had the chance to shoot with Cloud, which he remembers clearly as the second day of his filming.

“We have all lost a good one, a real one,” Ellis reflected. Although Tinseltown stars come across a sea of artists all the time, Ellis could not help but gush over Cloud, calling him “an absolute sweetheart.” According to him, not only was Cloud gentle, sensitive, and kind, but also one of the most genuine people who brought his authentic self each and every day without fail. “It’s an honor to have had the opportunity to share the screen with him,” he said.
In fact, Jay Ellis was found reminiscing about his time working with Angus Cloud before this as well.

“My first day, as we went to go do the work at the house, I got to meet Pedro [Pascal], I got to meet Ben Mendelsohn, and I got to meet Angus Cloud,” Ellis said. “Rest in peace to Angus,” he continued as he raved about Cloud’s performance in Freaky Tales. Although Abigail, Cloud’s final film, also dedicated a moving tribute, Ellis cherishes Freaky Tales all the more because of the unforgettable journey they had together, building memories of a lifetime.
