Jason Momoa Could Return as DC’s Wolverine in the James Gunn Led Projects, Following the Latest ‘Justice League’ Revelations

Fans know James Gunn and Peter Safran have been reimagining the DC Extended Universe for months now. From benching Henry Cavill from Superman’s role to canceling fan-favorite films, they shook everything. But the most disheartening news hit fans recently that Zack Snyder’s Justice League stars will not reprise their roles in the new DCU projects. This means actors Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, and Cavill will no longer be a part of this franchise.

However, for Momoa fans, the creators have left a ray of hope. The latest reports have revealed the Aquaman star could be DC’s Wolverine in the James Gunn-led projects.

Variety recently shared the production issues that the upcoming sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has faced. It also gave insight into the massive changes that James Gunn has made to the DC Universe, one of them being the original cast not being a part of the DCU anymore. And the recent word is that Jason Momoa will not play the iconic character of Arthur Curry anymore. Instead, he has “engaged in talks” to play Lobo in the highly anticipated emotional ride Superman: Legacy. Also, there is a chance the actor might get his own film with the character.

The Guardians of the Galaxy director has been teasing the appearance of Lobo in DCU right from the moment he took over the studios. Gunn even shared a picture of the character who has been considered the prototype of Marvel’s Wolverine. Not just that, the American actor himself pointed out in his interview with Entertainment Tonight that has a “dream” project in the works. “One of my dreams come true is happening under their watch, so stay tuned,” remarked Momoa.

Director James Wan has promised bigger adventures because Curry has a family to protect from Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Black Manta. The man who wants to avenge his father’s death and destroy everything in the process.

The trailer of the movie gave glimpses of Black Manta ready to wage havoc on the world. Others who have reprised their roles include Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, and Randall Park. As for fresh faces, Jani Zhao will play the role of a character named Stingray. Indya Moore will play Karshon, who first appeared as a villain in Green Lantern.
