“Jared never does…” – Zack Snyder Opens Up About Jared Leto’s Take on the Iconic Joker and His Experience of It

In Justice League, fans saw Jared Leto as the iconic character of Joker. Zack Snyder shared an incident of working with the American actor.
Zack Snyder has worked with many renowned actors, including Henry Cavill. Each time, he had a different and moving experience while working with different actors. When he was working with Jared Leto, his methods surprised Snyder. During his conversation with the Russo Brothers at Pizza Film School, the Man of Steel director talked about it.

While they were talking about how different cameras help the director to catch different angles, it brings out the best of the actor’s performance as well. During the conversation, Snyder talked about how Jared Leto focused on his performance by doing his thing. “Jared never does the same thing again,” said the 300 director and explained his process as well. Leto had his own ideas that he wanted to implement in his performance. He tried to improvise what the director had said.
In doing so, sometimes he would divert from the original script, leaving the director in question. So, why did the Justice League director love Leto’s method?

When Jared Leto had the script of Joker, he would drift apart from it. He would improvise on his own and perform. In the meantime, if Snyder did not like or wanted to change a particular thing and ask him to do so, Leto would do so with the utmost respect. And he would always come back to the end, revealed Snyder. Therefore, he admired the actor for bringing in his creativity. But if it does not meet with his own vision, Leto’s readiness to make the changes was the reason he liked the actor.
When the script is being written, it is the writer’s child. When the script comes into the hands of a director, it becomes his child. And ultimately, when it comes into the hands of an actor, the script becomes the actor’s child. Now, how to elevate the script is in the hands of the performer. Every actor has their own methods of justifying the role that they’ve been given.
