James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ Glimpse Makes History in Landmark Feat, Leaving Past DC Films in Dust Months Before Its Release
The question about how super James Gunn’s Superman will be without Henry Cavill has been a long time coming. While year-ending usually resolves all loose ends, Gunn finally pieced this one together before 2024 could pull the curtains with Superman’s first teaser trailer. Having navigated online uproars, baseless assumptions, and fan theories that put every creative DC genius to shame, Gunn held his ground unlike any other amidst the fickle-minded comic geeks’ refusal and anticipation. Joker: Folie à Deux may have been a box-office bomb, but Superman’s redemption arc speaks on behalf of DC as a whole.
With a groundbreaking achievement already on its first page, Gunn’s Superman is officially rewriting comic-book history.

The live-action entry to the new DC Universe could not have been better. According to Superman director James Gunn’s announcement on X, the first teaser trailer was reportedly viewed over 250 million times within 24 hours. As per the numbers that never lie, Superman is officially the "most-viewed and most-talked-about trailer" ever released by DC and Warner Bros. Showering gratitude onto the comic-book fans, Gunn gave a parting message, wishing them, “Happy Holidays” alongside the biggest festive offering.
The teaser trailer offers the first up-and-close footage of the new last son of Kryptonite, David Corenswet, alongside Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor. It also gives a snippet preview of the comic-book romance between Superman and Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane. The Superman teaser further offers fleeting glimpses at several heroes, including Krypto the Superdog, Hawkgirl, Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Mister Terrific, and Metamorpho.
While James Gunn teased how “grounded” Superman will be this time around, its trailer flight makes it quite hard for fans to make amends with a down-to-earth landing.
