James Gunn Raises Over $15,000 for Veterans From 'Superman' Film Premiere Auction
For the longest time, Marvel, the mightiest franchise out there, has been accused of grinding away at capitalism. The alleged commodification of art and the flood of MCU films in the market have often been slammed as putting profit ahead of creativity, leading to the now-famous term, ‘Marvel fatigue.’ And now, DCU, a studio that has spent years being called out for trying to ‘catch up’ with the MCU, has hopped on the consumerist bandwagon too- though, this time, it is for a noble cause, aiming to support veterans.
As the release of 2025 Superman gets closer, James Gunn seems to be cashing in on the love and loyalty of fans with a brand-new auction.

The upcoming Superman movie, the first film of the revamped DC Universe, is about to hit theaters next July. In the lead-up, James Gunn is giving DCU fans a front-row seat to the star-studded Superman premiere and its exclusive after-party, all through a charity auction. DCU offered two tickets via eBay as part of the Homes For Our Troops 8th Annual Veterans Day Celebrity Auction. The bidding wrapped up at a jaw-dropping $20,100, with every penny going to support severely injured post-9/11 veterans.
The lucky winner will get two tickets to the premiere and bring along a guest to the after-party. Hosting charities like this ahead of a movie is nothing new for DCU or MCU, as both, through their parent companies Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery, have been supporting such noble causes for years. But before fans get to enjoy the glitz of the Superman premiere, there is something they are eagerly waiting for- a trailer.
DC Studios head James Gunn has recently hinted at when fans can expect the first glimpse of this highly anticipated Superman trailer.
James Gunn on Superman’s trailer drop
So far, fans have been treated to several behind-the-scenes pictures and tidbits from the upcoming Superman movie. For some, these have upped the level of excitement, while for others, they have sparked a bit of anxiety- especially with Henry Cavill being replaced by David Corenswet. Of course, the real judgment will come once the trailer drops. In a recent interview with Omelete, James Gunn was asked point-blank how long it will be before the world finally sees the first Superman movie trailer.

The director simply said, “It won't be too long”. While Gunn has repeatedly weighed in on when fans can expect the trailer, it would not be surprising if it dropped out of the blue as a surprise. According to a report from Collider, the DCU Superman movie trailer is expected to arrive in mid-December. Considering that some of the cast members have already gotten a peek into the trailer and with the premiere preparations already underway, it is safe to say the Superman 2025 trailer is not as far off as one might think.
