Henry Cavill‘s departure from the DC franchise has been a hot topic of contention among the masses. Ever since the British actor bid farewell to the Superman role, the DC fandom has been in a state of chaos. His exit has left a humongous void within the fans. We are no strangers to James Gunn’s Twitter shenanigans. Over the past few months, the Suicide Squad director has been extremely active on the social media platform. Furthermore, Gunn updates the fans about the latest developments at DC and even answers fan queries on the platform. However, not long ago, the DC boss angered the fandom, as he seemingly mocked Cavill’s exit as Superman.

Recently, James Gunn took to Twitter as he posted a video wishing Michael Rooker a happy birthday. Amongst the plenty of reactions the post attracted, one was from a user who tweeted that he missed Henry Cavill. However, the Guardians of the Galaxy director had a peculiar reply as he wrote, “He still exists.” This three word reply for the franchise’s biggest superhero did not sit well with the DC fans.

Gunn’s reply angered the DC fans, who claimed that he was the mastermind behind removing Cavill from the franchise. The fandom flooded Twitter with hate comments for the director. While some users called him various names, one wrote how the director’s arrogance is disgusting. Some even labeled his response to the tweet as poor and miserable.

Seeing the reactions to the tweet, it is safe to assume that the DC fans are still sour about Cavill’s exit from the franchise. But turns out the Britisher was supposed to play another superhero in DCEU.
