If the art of surprising fans more through their casting choices was a sport, then DCU would definitely be winning. From announcing that Henry Cavill will be replaced by well, a younger-looking version of himself, to now moving towards another actor who is also a recurrent member in the Cavill lore, it seems the superhero studio and the British actor are forever intertwined. 

As James Gunn's work of art in making moves towards another phase, much like Marvel, the studio is bringing niche comic characters to life. For the role of Sgt. Rock in a supposed SGT ROCK film, DCU is eyeing Daniel Craig, and the Internet once again finds itself split by opinion boundaries over another DC casting.

The former James Bond wrapped up his tenure as 007 not very long ago and would bring in quite the star power that the superhero could very much do with right now. While this is still to be confirmed by any of Daniel Craig's representatives, one imagines Craig staring at the script, wondering how he became a recurring footnote in the Gospel of Cavill.

Having gone through all four phases of grief since the unfortunate dismissal of Henry Cavill, fans, as of late, have been in cahoots as they celebrate a new dawn of the DC chapter. With the studio evidently lacking in the past few years, the revival of unexpected characters that too on the blockbuster shoulders of an actor like Daniel Craig was a change welcomed by many.

While it came very close to being a near-perfect casting choice, it was not long before the critics chimed in. From questioning how it makes sense for an actor of Craig's caliber to play such a lesser-known character to state they had never heard of it in the first place, the war raged on.

Given that the Daniel Craig as Sgt. Rock casting is still in its nascent stages, it is too soon to tell if it might ever come to be. However, the outrage triggered by the suggestion is definitely not something that will keep DC at bay, as it seems to have become just a passage of the studio's life.
