Jacob Elordi for ‘American Psycho’? Fans Ship ‘Euphoria’ Star as Patrick Bateman 2.0 for Luca Guadagnino’s New Thriller
Once upon a time on the 2000s time-watch, Christian Bale sharpened the serial killer genre with American Psycho like killing a day kept a doctor away. Despite the satirical stance, the sheer grittiness of the piece, coupled with Bale’s eerily spine-chilling performance, set a benchmark for the novel’s adaptation that echoed through bombshell reviews and its box office run. Although picturing another Patrick Bateman was considered as difficult as impossible subsequently, with Luca Guadagnino’s new American Psycho in the works, fans have found the prodigy in Jacob Elordi.
According to a recent report from Deadline, Luca Guadagnino is in the final phase of negotiations for a new interpretation of American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis for Lionsgate. With Scott Z. Burns responsible for penning the adaptation, the film will be produced by Frenesy Films and executive produced by Sam Pressman, the son of Edward R. Pressman, producer of the original movie. Although the cast is yet to be decided, fans know who can fill in the shoes of Christian Bale and it is none other than Jacob Elordi.

Although the first film has a larger-than-life fan following, sources say that the new film is a fresh adaptation rather than a remake. Since Elordi has already shown that he has the acting chops to bring the fresh into a classic as he did with Priscilla, fans find him more than a perfect fit to become Patrick Bateman 2.0. Not that his name was the only one doing the rounds of fans’ minds, but it sure was the only one to unanimously cloud the fans’ minds.
Consequently, fans have taken over social media with Elordi chants all the way—enough to at least make Guadagnino do a double take for any consideration he thought so far.
Fans find the next-to-perfect Patrick Bateman in Jacob Elordi for Luca Guadagnino’s American Psycho
It does not take a total film freak to make out that Christian Bale in American Psycho was a screen standard bearer for anyone trying to offer a fresh look to the film or to Patrick Bateman. Although typically fans tend to do a 180 on such propositions, with the same supporters getting as enthusiastic about throwing their own pick with Jacob Elordi in the ring, the upcoming American Psycho now has expectations ready to flip off the wall and hit the roof.
While many agreed that Elordi has both the potential and the skills to make this new adaptation feel like it never missed a beat, some others also suggested Drew Starkey, whose Queer performance had him replace Tinseltown’s favorite ‘It’ girl.

Some other names also stuck their eyes, but Elordi’s name was the only one that had fans foreseeing the fan-casting vision turning into something worthwhile. With several movie buffs already marking their attendance to inform how this casting will have them “seated”, it remains to be seen if Elordi becomes a Luca Guadagnino favorite, like he is with the fans.
