Reality delves into the true story of Reality Winner, a political figure who faced severe legal consequences in 2018. This happened after she leaked classified documents revealing Russian interference in the 2016 election. Sweeney takes on a gripping role in the biopic drama film, where she portrays the courageous Miss Winner during her interrogation by the FBI.
The 25-year-old told ET, “I’ve never seen a script that was taken directly from a transcript of a real moment of someone’s life.” This was the reason why she felt that her role was totally different from what she had played until now.
Sweeney faced several challenges while bringing Reality Winner to the screen, but the biggest one was sticking to the script. She revealed that she often gets the freedom to improvise on her projects, but in this case, it seemed impossible. The reason behind it was that it is a story based on the actual FBI transcript, and Sweeney wanted to honor Winner by sticking to the script and portraying her in the truest sense.
Apparently, it is harder to portray a real-life person on screen than a fictional character, as people have a lot to compare when it comes to reality. However, Sweeney is not the only person who has worked hard to bring Reality Winner onto screens.
