“It’s the ones I have to fight…” – Sydney Sweeney Discloses the Harsh Reality behind Getting Typecast
Sydney Sweeney is one of those actors who has proven their worth in the industry only by working hard. That is because things did not come easily to this small-town girl when she moved to the big city for her dream. However, she thrived and never stopped trying, and today, she has become the ultimate IT girl of Hollywood. Sadly, there are cons to doing similar roles in the beginning, and Sweeney explains them perfectly.
Sweeney’s career took a major turn when she got the role of Cassie Howard in Euphoria. She was perfect for the role, she ended up nailing it to perfection. However, this brought her a bunch of problems that makers started to believe that she is very similar to Cassie in real life. Because of that, she constantly started getting scripts similar to the role of Cassie. Cassie also became a problem when she approached the makers of The White Lotus for the role of Olivia.
Although both the aforementioned roles got her Emmy nominations, they also became a roadblock for her in getting future roles. People began to think that she was perfect for the mean or dumb high school girl roles and nobody was taking her seriously. With regards to her role in Reality, Sweeney told Variety, “It’s the ones I have to fight for that usually are the ones that I want that are different, like ‘Reality.'”
